About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant II in the Capital Projects department. The Capital Projects Department's main objectives include planning, budgeting, designing, and managing projects, as well as maintaining current facilities.
What you'll be doing:
  • Serve as a liaison between the Capital Projects Department and various stakeholders
  • Manage human resources functions, including new employee paperwork and payroll processing
  • Provide administrative support to departmental management and staff
  • Process financial documentation such as invoices, purchase orders, and budgetary records
  • Handle incoming documentation and materials, ensuring timely distribution and processing
  • Deliver excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via mail
  • Complete various documentation associated with department operations within established timelines and procedures
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate work activities, exchange information, and resolve issues
Benefits:

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of administrative support experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Notary Public license preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Other things to know:
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Hybrid work options available with Department Director approval.
