Social Media Manager
Nonpartisan Science and Technology Research Institute
Washington, D.C. Area (Hybrid)
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000, with potential flexibility based on experience
Terrific Social Media Manager position with a nonprofit, nonpartisan science and technology research institute in the Washington, D.C. area. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for boosting the organization's social media profile. They will devise and implement strategies to increase engagement across all social media platforms. The Social Media Manager will produce content, identify and adopt new platforms for distribution, and collaborate with the head of communications on developing a comprehensive systematic social media plan. Candidates should have a strong understanding of organic social media and algorithmic incentives. They should also possess the ability to create multimedia collateral, including motion graphics and videos. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree is a plus. Prior academic interest or professional experience with tech policy is preferred. The organization is based in Washington, D.C. and operates on a hybrid schedule. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, with potential flexibility based on experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the organization's social media footprint and brand awareness
  • Craft social media content that expresses key messages from publications
  • Collaborate with leadership on a social media strategic plan
  • Create digital content, including videos and photographs to increase engagement
  • Strategically increase social media following by engaging with policy leaders on social media platforms
  • Collaborate with team members on email newsletters and collateral materials
  • Track performance and provide reports
Qualifications:
  • Approximately 2 years of relevant social media management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Master's degree a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; plus copy editing skills
  • Understanding of public policy and academic interest or professional experience in tech policy
  • Expertise with all social media platforms, including X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Experience creating digital content
  • Ability to produce and disseminate relevant content effectively
