Job Title: Youth Education Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
Demonstrating the mission and vision of Breakthrough Urban Ministries, the Youth Education Coordinator works within the Breakthrough Youth Network. Along with the Youth Education Director to manage day-to-day operations of K-8th grade out of school time programs and supervise staff. The Youth Education Coordinator works closely within the Youth Education Leadership Team to lead, plan, and support daily programming.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS
- Plan and manage after school and summer day camp program
- Act as the program Director in the absence of the Youth Education Director
- Manage student discipline and behavior procedures for out of school time programming
- Manage staff call offs and substitutions
- Manage after school program/summer school classrooms in the absence of Youth Development Specialists
- Support the supervision of staff by conducting classroom observations, facilitating daily staff huddle(meetings), training staff on policies, procedures, and educational methodology/best practices and coaching performance.
- Assist Director in managing and maintaining out of school time program expectations to ensure compliance and meeting outcomes for funders
- Communicate and build relationships with families through phone calls, emails, newsletters and meetings.
- Assist with leading/assisting classrooms, student transportation and building organization and clean-up
- Collaborate with the program administration staff in overseeing the recruitment and enrollment of all K-8th grade related programs
- Support the implementation of out of school time program quality rating scales and support the continuous quality improvement plans for theK-8th program
- Collaborate with volunteer engagement staff to recruit, communicate with, and schedule BYN volunteers, including attending semi-annual volunteer recruitment fairs at local colleges/universities
- Participate in professional development opportunities and Breakthrough wide events (Staff Committees, Community Events, Fundraising, etc.)
- Performs other duties, as requested or assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Social Services, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families
- Basic to moderate computer literacy and skills in Microsoft Outlook and Office products required.
- Applicant must demonstrate strong administrative and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a multicultural environment
- Experience using Procare, City Span, Salesforce, and other similar software preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Valid driver's license required
- Knowledge of urban issues regarding youth and families.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and problem-solving ability.

- Ability to demonstrate initiative and follow through and be comfortable working in a flexible environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a public, multi-purpose facility and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high depending on the activities in the facility.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and/or sit; use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; regularly talk or hear. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, pull, lift as well as have overhead extension of arms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; be able to lift, carry or move at least 50 pounds. Must adhere to proper handling and lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
