Youth Curriculum Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Youth Education Specialist develops educational strategies to build analytical thinking and social awareness to support academic, social-emotional, and civic engagement goals. The ideal candidate will be creative, resourceful, and committed to youth development and empowerment. This position ensures the students receive a culturally responsive approach that supports a multi-faceted curriculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop a culturally inclusive and holistic curriculum for students ages 5-18 in an urban environment to advance education goals.
  2. Develop academic and social/emotional goals for each student following the logic model.
  3. Implement family and parent engagement activities.
  4. Participate in a robust civic engagement agency initiative including attending networking events and meetings and participating regularly in community committees.
  5. Assist with classroom coverage as needed based on program staffing.
  6. Assist with Junior Building Leaders student pick-ups from schools as needed based on program staffing.
  7. Ensure that daily attendance is collected and entered into the database and that recording procedures are in accordance with attendance policy; assisted by the Youth Programs Manager.
  8. Ensure that Junior Building Leaders and Building Leaders staff have entered attendance and assessments into appropriate databases. (Salesforce, City Span, ECornerstone)
  9. Maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships with existing curricula and enrichment partners (Junior Achievement and CHISPA, Math Circles, and Kitchen Possible)
  10. Create, research, and strengthen the Gads Hill Civic Engagement Curriculum for Junior Building Leader and Building Leaders.
  11. Recruit and maintain a robust volunteer pool for enrichment modules on art, science, and sports.
  12. Develop relationships with universities and organize field trips for students and parents.
  13. Develop and maintain a college scholarship directory to inform and assist students and parents.
  14. Organize college applications and FAFSA workshops for students and parents.
  15. Support and serve as certified site administrator and food manager.
  16. Collect and check monthly meal and sign-in sheets for Junior Building Leaders and Building Leaders to ensure that attendance, sign-in sheets and meal numbers are accurate.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all GHC employees are responsible for the following:

  1. Participating in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  2. Participating in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside.
  3. Participating in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  4. Advancing parent leadership development.
  5. Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education.
  2. Demonstrated experience with curriculum development, teaching experience, and developing after-school enrichment programs.
  3. Bilingual in English/Spanish recommended.
  4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  5. One year previous direct service experience with diverse low-income families required.
  6. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a 12-passenger van when needed.
  7. Must be able to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
  8. A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.

POSITION DETAILS:

Entry Salary Range $40,000 - $45,00.00 salary
