JOB TITLE: Community Education and Outreach Coordinator STATUS:  Full Time-Onsite

DEPARTMENT: Community Outreach Services HOURS/WEEK: 40 

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Sr. Director of Community Engagement and Education FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: Community Educators (Facilators/Volunteers)

General Summary

Working closely with Community Outreach staff and MSV's programs, the Community Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for providing educational and training workshops and events on a variety of topics, including but not limited to; Financial and Digital Literacy, Disease Prevention, Conflict Resolution, Communication, Nutrition Education and Job Readiness, through a trauma-informed care lens and a pathway to economic growth and stability. The CEOC will establish partnerships, maintain relationships with schools, organizations, community stakeholders, parent groups, and participate in community fairs and other events throughout Cook County. This position will require flexible work hours that may include some evenings and Saturdays. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and facilitate various community educational programs for adults, families, and seniors. 
  2. Maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to support education curriculums.
  3. Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
  4. Develop/Create curriculums that best fit assigned focus areas. Consistently evaluate community needs
  5. Regularly travel and work independently in the field
  6. Prepare and maintain accurate records of all training and evaluative responses, and create

monthly reports

  1. Stay current on new research and community issues related to community empowerment, wellness, education, and job readiness
  1. Develop training for new and ongoing volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and interns covering relevant topics. 
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with workforce development, and similar organizations that provide student interns.
  3. In conjunction with the Sr. Director of Community Engagement and Education and staff, enhance existing and develop new community partnerships to increase community education and other resources for clients. 
  4. Evaluate and improve Curriculum efficiency and effectiveness through developing, implementing, and analyzing benchmarks of program success and outcome measures; and identifying and implementing operational improvements that benefit our servicing communities.
  5. Maintain complete and accurate digital/paper client and partner files by timely documentation of all data system(s) information: complete monthly, quarterly, and annual statistics and program reports, including outcome stories. 
  6. Conduct community presentations and workshops to educate the public on various health topics
  7. Initiate invoice processing as needed. 
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Experience/Education

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with a focus in education, social services,

public health, communication, and 2 years of related experience.

Bilingual a plus but not required

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Language
