Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Orlando, FL

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Process and record all accounts payable transactions (including purchase orders, purchase cards and check requests) in the general ledger. This position is also responsible for accounting and reporting for assigned grants. 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  1. Process and record all accounts payable transactions (purchase orders, purchase cards and check requests) according to established procedures. 
  2. Ensure accurate processing and recording of all transactions to appropriate cost centers. 
  3. Process reports for reconciliation of transactions and follow up on missing documentation.
  4. Maintain asset reports and other documentation as necessary in accordance with accounting policies and procedures. 
  5. Work with Club and Administrative staff to obtain documentation to support transactions.
  6. Must conform with all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Follow corporate policy to maintain confidential information.
  7. Responsible for accounting, recordkeeping, and on-time reporting deliverables for assigned grants.
  8. Assist with managing office supplies and mailing.
  9. Additional duties or projects may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. 

External: Maintains contact with vendors, consultants, and service providers to maintain effective accounting operations, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • AA or 2 years college required in accounting and finance. Four-year degree preferred in accounting, finance, business or other related field.
  • Two to three years of general accounting experience required, using computerized accounting systems.
  • Non-profit organization experience helpful.
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and follow through.
  • Computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel, and databases. Blackbaud or similar ERP experience helpful.
  • Strong customer relations skills. Ability to work well with employees at all levels of the organization. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial reports, safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and/or technical information with others. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and formulas. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Work environment: Normal office environment.
