Description

Boxer Property is seeking a Director of Multifamily Property Management to lead the establishment and growth of a new multi-family division under a new brand. This includes launching the brand, leveraging in-place corporate infrastructure, and executing a roadmap to possibly spin-off as a separate company. The Director’s scope includes leasing, marketing, customer relations, operations, maintenance, reporting, compliance, and financial oversight. The ideal candidate will embrace data-driven decision-making, clear process, and advanced technologies as core operational components. The division will grow incrementally and benefit from existing corporate capacity in IT, HR, Accounting, Legal, and other functions, as well as a robust international support team. This leadership position combines innovation and systems-thinking with multifamily domain experience into a transformational career opportunity.

Qualifications


Responsibilities:

  • Division Establishment and Brand Launch: Lead the creation and development of a new multifamily division, including the launch of a distinct brand, starting with an initial portfolio of managed properties.
  • Strategic Use of Corporate Infrastructure: Leverage and adapt existing corporate infrastructure (IT, HR, Accounting, Legal, etc.) to support divisional activities and growth.
  • Execution of Division Roadmap: Design and implement a strategic roadmap for the division's growth, with the goal of eventually spinning it off as a separate entity.
  • Management of Core Functions: Oversee leasing, marketing, customer relations, operations, maintenance, reporting, and compliance activities to ensure effective divisional management.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the financial aspects of the division, including budgeting, financial reporting, and financial strategy to ensure profitability and sustainability.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data and analytics to inform decision-making processes and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Technology and Process Integration: Harness advanced technologies and business process to optimize divisional operations and enhance customer experiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various internal departments to harness the full capabilities of the corporate environment and ensure divisional needs are met.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team to execute divisional objectives and foster a culture of exceptional customer, personal, and financial outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Domain Experience: Relevant experience in leadership and execution-oriented roles in multifamily property management.
  • Process & Data Orientation: Appreciation for and focus on the critical role of business process and data to drive effective operations, with knowledge of system design, change management, and relevant technical proficiency.
  • Growth & Execution: Capability to establish new initiatives, execute strategic plans, and build rather than simply maintain operations.
  • Operational Management: Experience in overseeing core functions such as leasing, marketing, customer relations, operations, maintenance, and compliance in the context of multifamily real estate.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, in collaboration with and as supported by the Finance & Accounting team.
  • Pace & Decisiveness. Ability to make decisions and act quickly, including by taking direct action (vs an overly deliberative, delegation-oriented approach).

Important Notes:

  • Property Type: This division will manage existing, US-based multifamily properties with a focus on value-add opportunities.
  • Job Location: This is a traditional, five days a week in-office role (for this position and the team) based in Houston, with travel required based on portfolio expansion.
  • Growth & Startup Plan. The division will launch with an initial portfolio of several managed properties, used as a starting point around which to grow incrementally.
  • Existing Systems & International Team: The division’s activities will rely heavily on an integrated global support team (back-office and beyond), and existing technical platforms to manage tasks, checklists, and process.
