Description
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Health Care Provider, responsible for the delivery of general patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients, by following established standards and procedures. Assist with basic patient care and collaborates with other clinic staff to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Essential Duties:
1. Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider, and assist with procedures when necessary.
2. Assist Clinical staff in gathering medical history information, and may take and record vital signs, as well as document patient information for medical record.
3. Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment/supplies that comply with quality of care.
4. Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.
5. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposing of contaminated supplies appropriately, sterilizing medical instruments, administering medications on the premises, drawing blood, preparing patients for x-rays, taking electrocardiograms, removing sutures, changing dressings, scheduling referrals/outside diagnostics/testing appointments, administering immunizations/vaccines, maintaining vaccine records, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
6. May schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
7. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Must have or be able to obtain Medication Aide License through the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry
2. Must have or be able to complete phlebotomy training
3. Electronic Health Record preferred
4. Strong Computer skills required
5. Good oral and written communication skills
6. Highly organized, attentive to detail, quality, and accuracy.
7. Ability to work under pressure
8. Team-oriented and energetic
9. Strong commitment to customer service and professionalism
10. Cultural sensitivity
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
