Blue Shield of California is Hiring a Product Manager, Principal Near Oakland, CA

Your Role 

The Digital Member Experience team is reimagining our digital customer experience and leading the transformation of the healthcare industry. The Principal Product Manager will report to the Sr. Manager, Product Management – Digital Member Experience. In this role you will leverage your expertise in Product Management and consumer experiences to articulate a compelling vision for the future of the digital member experience. This person will partner with various stakeholders to refine and execute against our digital strategy, initially focusing on high profile projects central to the member experience. He/she will work with Senior Product leadership to define shortterm and long-term product roadmaps. He/she will work with cross functional teams in a fast paced, agile environment and will be responsible for managing product development deliverables such as requirements documentation, analytics, design reviews, implementation and delivery. 

Your Work 

In this role, you will: 

  • Define and implement the short-term roadmap and long-term engagement model for executing on member facing digital integrations.
  • Accountability and prioritization over execution and delivery of the digital product roadmap for member experiences.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including engineers, designers, and business stakeholders, in a fast paced, agile environment and be responsible for conception, design, development, delivery, maintenance, and evolution of the customer experience including translating business and user needs into product features. 
  • Review, analyze, collect and take action on qualitative and quantitative findings from Customer Satisfaction Surveys, user testing and additional customer feedback loops including google analytics, performance monitoring etc. 
  • Write and breakdown epics independently. Write and review detailed user stories and acceptance criteria covering multiple user-types. • Utilize product management tools to create, manage, and prioritize agile team backlog. 
  • Ensure key personas are identified, created, developed, and utilized effectively for multiple product areas. Additionally, mentor team when needed. • Mentor, understand, and drive User Experience (UX) research and design to craft high-quality, engaging user experiences. 
  • Participate and engage in agile ceremonies; facilitate those required for product artifacts as they support product outcomes. 
  • Demonstrate high-level understanding of technical concepts and architectural impact.
  • Perform as a product area SME to educate others on product.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to ensure delivery of the aligned product outcomes. 

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, public health, or information technology
  • Requires at least 8 years of experience in product management consulting or entrepreneurship 
  • A customer-first mindset and relentless drive to deliver products that address members pain points and drive delightful experience. 
  • A history of defining and driving outcomes through the launch of consumer-facing digital experiences on web and mobile platforms 
  • Experience managing product development deliverables such as requirements documentation, analytics, design reviews, implementation, and delivery 
  • Ability to lead implementation of key cross-channel, consumer-facing initiatives, informed by customer needs and industry trends, and develop data-driven product deliverables with relevant measurable KPIs 
  • Coordinating with a diverse set of stakeholders in the process to align with product vision 
  • Understanding of and experience working with web and mobile technology in the context of enterprise architecture and infrastructure to provide competitive advantage for product development, brand management, and customer experience. 
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to identify needs and transform them into product features 
  • Ability to partner with analytics team to define critical KPIs, understand what the data means, and integrate it into your reporting and planning
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with hands-on, ‘roll up your sleeves’ can-do attitude 
  • Writing thorough and thoughtful user stories that take member experience, business requirements, visual design and analytics into consideration while owning and managing product backlog for assigned product(s) 
  • The ability to partner and communicate across the organization with key stakeholders and external business partners 
  • Mobile application experience is a plus. 
  • Ability to drive results independently, ability to learn quickly but thrive in a collaborative agile environment 
  • Obsession with details while never losing sight of the bigger picture 
  • Innate curiosity and learning disposition coupled with the ability to embrace change 
  • HealthCare, Financial Services, Tech or Retail experience

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 145200.00 to $ 217800.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
