PG E is Hiring a Remote Principal Product Manager

Requisition ID # 155225

Job Category: Information Technology

Job Level: Manager/Principal

Business Unit: Information Technology

Work Type: Hybrid

Job Location: Oakland

Department Overview

Pacific Gas & Electric’s Information Technology (IT) Department is a world class organization of Product Managers, Product Owners, System Architects, Software Development Engineers, and Operations professions who invent, ship, and support technology services that enable PG&E to serve our mission to deliver safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy.

IT’s Enterprise Data Analytics & Insights (DA&I) org owns and operates several data software services. One service makes it easy for any data consumer at PG&E to gain access to their data, and rapidly generate operational insights themselves. A second service creates and delivers insights directly to internal customers, who are but not limited to PG&E’s functional areas (FA), e.g., Electric, Gas, and Customer lines of businesses. DA&I’s services help FA operators make decisions in PG&E’s public facing programs such as Public Safety Power Shutoff and Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS).

Position Summary

DA&I is witnessing unprecedented demand for data services. We are seeking a Principal level, Product Manager (PM) to support our growth: serving each and all client demands, internal operations, i.e., partnership functions, and informing investment decisions.

The Principal Product Manager is a Leadership Individual Contributor (IC) role. The Principal PM will serve equal functions in strategy, product management, and operations. Principals regularly engage in ambiguous environment. They define high level, move-forward strategies, but are equally responsible for diving into and auditing the details. You will create high-leverage, business artifacts (Docs, PPTs, Excels, etc.) that are reusable; you will use these artifacts to facilitate and drive alignment with leaders throughout PG&E. You must be proactive in identifying and documenting existing business process operations, and inventive in developing what a future and aspirational state can be. No task is beneath you. You will develop, socialize, and maintain an integrated DA&I Product/Services roadmap that links customers’ demand(s) with Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Platforms, and Operation needs. You will play a meaningful role in shaping how our data investments serve PG&E’s True North Strategy.

DA&I PMs embody PG&E Virtues, each day we show up and, in every engagement we are present. The role is inherently cross functional. You must be a Trustworthy partner to PG&E’s FAs, working diligently to deliver Business Outcomes. Trust is not given, but it must be earned. You must be (infinitely!) Curious about how PG&E FAs operate, and Tenacious when helping them and all PG&E co-workers succeed. You are a PG&E Owner who operates Nimbly and are Empathetic, understanding we will not always have all answers upfront, but are committed to continuous improvement as we serve PG&E.

Ready to do your best work and hungry to be part of a superstar team of A players? Apply today!

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and our Oakland, CA HQ based on business needs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $147,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $251,000.00
