$2,500 Sign-On Bonus* We have an exciting new opoortunity for a Sr. Database Analyst within our IT department at Bloodworks NW! The incumbent will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases, data warehouse, and information reporting platforms. Works with staff to define, develop, analyze and modify complex databases and associated master files to support software application programs. Drive the development of data standards and guidelines and assist in the development and implementation of client server and web-based solutions. Report metrics on assigned databases. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to: Primary liaison with the Business Intelligence team to partner is solving business data needs. Primary contact for Contract DBA team. Provides “feet on the ground” support for Contract DBA team. Work closely with ETL developers and database administrators to enhance processes and troubleshooting. Monitor/Perform routine database backup/restore, index, and statistics maintenance, space management, database security management and replication setup/support. Work with the installation and stabilization of multiple database servers on VMWare Develop SSIS packages to import clients’ data files and transform data between different systems. Participate in the review of all database schema projects, provide feedback, and identify impacts to existing environment. Manages data reporting platforms (such as Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services). Provide analytical database support for MS SQL Server, Oracle and other database systems. Make recommendations and implement strategies using business data logic and data warehousing expertise. Formulate policies, procedures and standards related to database management. Support various layers of databases down to system architecture, operating systems, hardware, storage and network configurations. Interact with vendors of existing technologies to stay current with the capabilities of their offerings. Accurately assess and mitigate risk by conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning. Ensure that all activities related to database changes are in compliance with all laws, regulations, standards, and policies. Maintain and document security settings and processes, including procedures to enable, disable and change access to databases, making sure that authorizations, passwords, user Ids, etc. are periodically reviewed. Interact with emerging technology vendors, seeking solutions, products and opportunities to utilize them. Participate in developing schemas, constraints, triggers, stored procedures, assist in optimizing queries and mentoring for software engineers and internal users. Develop and implement database standards and guidelines related to accessing and maintaining data and database security. Develop and maintain clear, accurate project and technical documentation (design and/or system specifications, flow charts, database documentation, etc.). Assist in developing long-term department database technology strategies. Serve as database design consultant to users and technical staff members. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: College or technical degree, with course work in computer concepts, programming and database design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ten or more years of experience as a database analyst with commercial applications. Must have good writing skills, and must be able to communicate effectively with others in face-to-face interactive situations. Must be able to work well both independently and as a member of a team. SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of relational and dimensional database design including data modeling, stored procedures, triggers, views, tables, and security. Ability to resolve database performance, capacity, replication and other distributed database issues. Extensive knowledge of MS SQL Server, Oracle, MS Access, MS Excel and other database software. Demonstrated effective problem solving, planning, coordination, organization, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and produce results. Strong understanding of systems development lifecycle and relational database development. WORKING CONDITIONS: The job is performed in an office environment. Regular travel throughout the area served by Bloodworks and some business travel required. Extensive close work and computer/viewing monitor work. This position has indirect exposure to blood borne pathogens. May occasionally be required to work extended hours, including on scheduled holidays and weekends, to support project or operational requirements. Telecommuting is a frequent condition of this role. Bloodworks is a community supported non-profit organization. As such, from time-to-time incumbent can expect to work with volunteers.
