As a Database Developer, you will be a key member of the Seattle Colleges Web Team, which builds web applications servicing tens of thousands of students and help them achieve their career goals. In this role, you will help design and develop databases that serve as the foundation of our program-student-employee data warehouse.
The Seattle Colleges' Web Team builds and maintains the various websites, applications and services which form the complex information infrastructure that serves our community of students, faculty, and staff. This includes dynamic websites with distributed access running on Drupal, a course and program data warehouse, web services connecting it to the SBCTC data in PeopleSoft, as well as self-service portals for students, faculty, and staff to manage day-to-day operations. The Web Team is committed to Seattle Colleges' mission and vision of increasing student success through increased accessibility as well as increasing organizational excellence by helping build efficient systems which reduce administrative overhead.

What you will be working on:
- Assist the Web Services Manager in building our program-student-employee data warehouse
- Connecting SBCTC's database in PeopleSoft to databases owned and maintained by the Web Team
- Building databases for our new student portal and our new employee portal
- Assist other web developers build data relationships between our different systems
- Helping the Web Team develop robust data backup and recovery practices
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 2 years' experience with database administration in SQL or Oracle (preferably both)
- Experience working with RESTful Web Services
- Experience/knowledge working with Content Management Systems (preferably Drupal)
- Experience/knowledge working with front end JS technologies e.g. Node.js
- Ability to communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders of various cultures and backgrounds while demonstrating respect for individual differences
- A strong desire to work in a team and institution dedicated to addressing systemic inequities in higher education
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
