Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $55,000

Residential Life serves the needs of 7,500 residents through a system of six residential colleges. We strive to support the academic mission of the University by providing residents with a living-learning experience through our collegiate structure. This position supports the MSW Intern program within Residential Life. This unique program offers residential students access to support from MSW graduate students. This position supervises the MSW interns as well as directs the support and care of residential students.

Residential Life prides itself in its collaborations with campus partners, including the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development, the Student Affairs Administration program, the Masters in Social Work program, the Division of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DDEI), and Campus Recreational Services. All of these program graduate students and/or staff within residential life to provide specialized services to residential students.

The Student Support Coordinator will:

  • Provide day to day support and clinical supervision of the MSW interns through supervision meetings, education & training, assignments, consultation and feedback.
  • Provide case management service and supportive efforts grounded in trauma-informed care, and identity-conscious support.
  • Provide administrative support in collaboration with Assistant Director of Student Support for the MSW Internship Program
  • Create and (co-)facilitate individual, group and departmental training on various topics related to case management and supporting students.
  • Attend/co-attend certain meetings as a department representative
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and consultative working relationships with on and off campus partners
  • Assist with data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain detailed records in the Maxient system and use Banner to access student records.

A successful candidates must demonstrate:

  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of respect, confidentiality and sensitivity to the needs of the members of the University community including students, their family members, and visitors.
  • Ability to interface with distressed students, maintain confidentiality, function independently, use discretion, exercise judgment to make decisions, and be able to re-prioritize on an ongoing basis.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting a student body that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and (dis)ability, among other factors.
  • Ability to exercise organizational and project management skills and multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Job Requirements:

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Must have LMSW
  • Must have a Master of Social Work degree with 2 years of social work experience
