Qualifications

Our Washington, D.C. office seeks an Assistant Director of Governmental Affairs with a minimum of five years’ experience with the legislative process and ideally possess a strong background in water, wastewater, and environmental issue areas. Ideal candidates possess a strong knowledge of the federal legislative process and the federal administrative rulemaking process. Candidates should be able to provide examples of successfully implemented legislative strategies. Further, Candidates should have the ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders.

The Assistant Director of Governmental Affairs will be responsible for working with colleagues and clients on developing and implementing federal strategies. The position will be responsible for research, analysis, and evaluation of federal matters as they may pertain to client priorities. The position will also assist in the development of testimony, model legislation, position papers, and reports.

Candidates must possess strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly. Further it is important that candidates have the ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines and be detail oriented and possess good organization skills. The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently and proactively.
