About the role:
Within the meeting & Events industry, Purchasing Managers communicate with hotels, convention centers, restaurants, specialty venues, etc. to negotiate the selected space used for meetings & events. This includes submitting and responding to RFP's, handling negotiations/contracts and managing budgets to stay in-line with the clients' meeting and event needs.
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join one of our client dedicated teams within the Life Sciences industry. In this role you will work along-side your teammates and with clients to ensure each event is placed in a top-notch location at the best possible price. You are an experience negotiator who understands the value of long-lasting relationships with hotel/venue partners. Sound like you? Read on!
As a Purchasing Manager you will:
Work with your peers and clients to understand meeting goals, flow and space requirements. Send RFPs to properties that will be a great fit and field responses. You have a solid understanding of US cities and have experience working in a multicultural environment.
Vet viable options and make recommendations. Prepare presentations as applicable. Be consultative in your approach.
Use your existing contacts and build new relationships with clients, vendors, NSMs, CVBs and sales teams.
Negotiate the best deals for our clients. Understand client needs, procurement practices, norms and expectations. Ensure no detail is left out.
Be nimble, problem solve and get creative. Afterall, the venue can make or break the event (and budget!).
You're good at:
Managing multiple priorities and being adaptable. You have exceptional problem-solving skills and are calm under pressure.
Teamwork. It takes a village.
Cvent and Microsoft Office Suite.
Providing superior customer service.
You might also have:
A college degree from a 4- year institution.
Ideal candidate possesses 3 years in a venue procurement, purchasing or venue sourcing role.
You should know:
This role is virtual, and operates in the Eastern Time Zone. There is minimal travel associated with this role.
Our standard working hours are 8:30 AM -5:30 PM with an hour break.
Covid vaccination might be required for this role.

We carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors, including your professional background and experience. The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Purchasing Manager is between $53,000 - $75,000 The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, geographical location, and project budget.
