BayPort Credit Union Brand is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Newport, VA

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support in all functions of the Human Resources Department. This is accomplished by providing administrative assistance to the Human Resources Department to include a range of duties to be handled with confidentiality and discretion; interface with staff, leaders, board members, vendors, and visitors of the credit union; and performing other duties as requested.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Answer telephone, disseminate information or resolve questions, and/or route calls to appropriate individual.
  • Update and maintain human resources database and electronic files, to include scanning and digitizing personnel related files into electronic format.
  • Perform specialized or confidential administrative duties, including researching data, preparing reports, and processing change of status requirements for employees
  • Complete other administrative duties, including but not limited to, compiling benefits packets, employee development workshop materials, new employee on-boarding packets, and overseeing the fulfillment and distribution of credit union logo store orders.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies for the Human Resources department and submit weekly supplies requests to Operations.
  • Process employee status, access, and related accounts on the core host and digital banking platforms.
  • Coordinate the Tuition Assistance Program by requesting, compiling, and submitting required documentation for approval and communicating status updates to employees seeking further education.
  • Create and publish announcements, notifications, and articles on the company Intranet.
  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with third party service providers and business partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge: Overall knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures. Knowledge of general office duties to include typing, answering phones, and filing. Proficiency in computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Required Education: Education up to the equivalent of a four-year high school education.

Required Experience: Prior administrative or financial institution experience. 

Preferred Experience: Previous Human Resources experience is highly desirable.

  • Ability to effectively handle confidential information
  • Strong record-keeping skills
  • Excellent organization, prioritization skills
  • Attentive to detail and able to multi-task. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and Canva.
