Baylor Careers is Hiring a Human Resources Consultant (HR Business Partner) Near Waco, TX

Baylor University is seeking a service-oriented HR Consultant (HRC). The HR Consultant serves as a strategic HR business partner for a portfolio of internal client groups. Candidates considered for this position must be able to demonstrate previous experience in guiding key HR business strategy, critical decision making, high service commitment, and successful performance in mediating employee relations outcomes. This position will be a critical partner in assisting client groups with assessing and developing culture, aiding client in becoming business ready, and providing support to find strong problem resolution.

What You’ll Do:

  • Working as part of a service delivery team that includes recruiting, compensation, and HR service support, you will provide HR services to our clients and serve as a resource to client leadership on all employment matters. Approach should be flexible and practical when addressing issues, with an understanding that the primary role is to reduce risk and exposure on matters related to employment practices. 
  • Assist with routine and complex employee relations/performance issues. Ability to work with both client leadership and employees on development plans, performance improvement plans, talent management plans, and organizational plans for future growth in staffing resource needs. Will work with leadership through performance management efforts and support through separations as needed.
  • Play a vital role in supporting and driving organizational change by empowering client leaders to make key business decisions. Participate in workforce planning and resource allocations as led by client leadership while focusing on HR best practices to bring the greatest result to the client group. Assist in preparing client groups to become and stay business ready while promoting adaptability and creative thinking. Approach is one of gaining understanding, building trust, utilizing available data, and making strong recommendations for leader driven decisions.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree and five years of relevant work experience. A Master’s Degree and eight years of relevant work experience are preferred. Strong preference will also be given to candidates who currently have a PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP. An active Christian faith is required. 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
