Barnett Engineering & Signaling Laboratories LLC (BESL) is seeking qualified System Administrator to provide NIST 800-171 compliant company-wide system administration support. Must possess thorough understanding and demonstrated proficiencies in Linux Administration (Ubuntu Server) and Windows Administration (Server 2016/Windows 10). This position requires the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. Must be knowledgeable in Bash, Powershell, Windows GPO, Domain Controllers, Active Directory, OpenVPN, Postfix, Samba, KVM.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform system and network administration activities on all computer systems.

Install and update operating system and third-party software.

Create new user accounts; close out old user accounts; ensure system security via passwords and other methods.

Perform preventative maintenance procedures; perform system troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems.

Install, upgrade, and configure system files and services.

Monitor and improve system performance through kernel and file system tuning.

Perform software backups and maintain archive of source codes.

Establish processes and procedures for systems administration; support all personnel as they use system procedures.

Maintain computer-related hardware and peripherals.

Research and evaluate new hardware and software; recommend budgets and coordinate equipment purchases.

Assist with building, installing, deploying, and upgrading system hardware and software components as required.

Assist with training and problem solving as needed.

Configurational safeguards to Microsoft subscribed services

Run and Report weekly audit reports on baselined settings

Requirements

Qualifications:

Can work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

Be knowledgeable Linux Administration (Ubuntu Server) and Windows Administration (Server 2016/Windows 10)

Can work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.

Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

Knowledgeable in Bash, Powershell

Knowledgeable of Windows GPO, Domain Controllers, Active Directory, OpenVPN, Postfix, Samba, KVM

Knowledge and understanding of NIST 800-171 security requirements to assist with evaluating technical compliance of configuration settings

Relevant Training in OS such as Linux and Windows

Manage and maintains network operability

Ensure personnel are trained appropriately on telecom systems and network software applications

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years previous work experience in relevant field.

Certifications: IT certifications (Security ) and/or satisfy the IAT Level II bracket.

Applicants should be able to work well in a team or self-directed and have a desire to work in a fast-paced research and development environment for the Defense industry.
