Description

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production and adherence to quality standards. Responsibilities include production planning, resource management, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. The Production Manager role is expected to plan, organize, and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently in quantity, food safety on time, within budget and to standard.

Duties and responsibilities

• Develop and implement production schedules, considering factors such as demand, raw material availability, and production capacity.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure an uninterrupted flow of raw materials.
• Plan a production schedule for the operations. Implement and control the production schedule. Review and adjust the schedule where needed due to demand.
• Determine and manage the personnel required and material resources required to meet production targets.
• Work in collaboration with maintenance to make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, and modifications.
• Establish and implement staff training.
• Promote safety amongst all employees.
• Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and product specifications.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor hygiene, sanitation, and adherence to quality standards.
• Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems.
• Determine and implement improvements to the production according to our lean manufacturing program.
• Ensure compliance of GMP’s, 5’s, Safety, OSHA, HACCP and FSMA in all areas.
• Stay updated on food safety regulations and ensure that the production facility complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and undergo necessary inspections to maintain compliance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in food production, packaging, and distribution.
• Implement changes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production processes.
• Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, and management.
• Ensure that all production areas meet sanitation and cleanliness standards to prevent contamination and maintain a safe working environment.
• Implement and enforce proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Qualifications

Education-

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Management or related field.
• Proven experience in food production management or a similar role within the food industry preferred.
• Equivalent to 10 years of Manufacturing Experience
• In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and HACCP principles.
• HACCP Certified
• SQF Certification
