Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Control Officer to join our team. The Animal Control Officer will be responsible for enforcing animal control laws, ensuring the welfare and safety of animals, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and protect the well-being of animals.
Duties:
- Respond to calls regarding stray or injured animals, animal cruelty, and nuisance complaints
- Capture and safely handle animals using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Transport animals to shelters or veterinary clinics as needed
- Investigate reports of animal bites and conduct follow-up investigations
- Issue citations or warnings for violations of animal control regulations
- Educate the public on responsible pet ownership, including licensing requirements, leash laws, and proper care for animals
- Maintain accurate records of all activities, including reports, citations, and impoundment documentation
- Assist with the coordination of adoption events and outreach programs
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and answering phone calls
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of animal control laws and regulations
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle animals safely and humanely
- Proficiency in using computer systems (Google Suite) for data entry and record keeping
- Ability to transcribe information accurately
- Experience with office management and administrative tasks
- Familiarity with order entry systems and phone systems
