B.L. Harbert International is seeking an Estimator to work in our International Estimating Department in Birmingham, Alabama. Candidate must be willing to travel occasionally for International pre-bid site visits and other project meetings.
Responsibilities:
· Analyze RFP documents
· Perform detailed quantity take-offs
· Analyze vendor and subcontract proposals
· Price various work packages
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· U.S. Citizen
· Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
· Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Building Construction, or similar curriculum
· 5 years of experience in estimating for commercial, light industrial, and U.S. Government construction projects
· Experience performing detailed quantity take-offs for earthwork, site utilities, structural concrete, and architectural items
· Experience with analysis of vendor and subcontractor proposals, and preparation of bid comparison tabulations
Preferences:
· Experience in the conversion of estimates into detailed project budgets
· Prior pre-construction or field experience on international projects for private or U.S. Government clients
· Experience in reviewing and analyzing project initiated change order proposals to determine contractual validity and accuracy of the proposed pricing
· Experience in writing technical proposals
Physical Demands:
To perform the duties of this job, the employee must:
· Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
· Have the ability to stoop, bend, walk, kneel, crouch and crawl
· Have the ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 25 lbs. of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc.
· Have the ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing required
· Possess the manual dexterity to operate office equipment, filing, and perform specialized skills
· Possess a high degree of concentration necessary in a busy office environment

· Must have flexibility with hours in order to better accommodate business needs
