LMS Investment Management is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Birmingham, AL

LMS Construction is seeking an Estimator to support the construction efforts across the southeast. This individual will provide oversight, direction and accountability to project teams developing multifamily projects. They will assist in pricing new developments, as well as rehab projects. They will coordinate between design teams, contractors, and operation teams solving problems, leading collaboration, and driving pricing efforts. The ability to communicate, negotiate, understand constructability and creatively problem solve while representing LMS Construction and their values is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily communication with Contractors, Design Team, and Vendors involved in the project.
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, show good judgement and think critically to solve problems.
  • Quantity takeoff, quantifying physical components of for pricing.
  • Recruit, manage and retain contractors and vendors to put together a team that can affectively complete the larger projects.
  • Develop unit pricing for aspects of the project to generate budgets.
  • Assist in transition of project from preconstruction to field management, verifying scope items are accurate.
  • Able to effectively write, review and negotiate contracts of work.
  • Manage expectations with Owner teams to ensure anticipated aspects fit within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture or 5 year background in construction, construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 1-5 years of proven experience in the construction industry.
  • Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings.
  • Competent in generating scopes of work for subcontractors use.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, QTO software, Procore and general computer software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles.
  • Ability to analyze drawings, budget, negotiate, and control costs.
  • High degree of familiarity with per unit costs and general construction pricing.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
