The Benefits Manager is responsible for managing the back-end administration of Aya’s insurance benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and FSA plans. Specifically, the candidate should have several years of experience with administering the self-funded plan requirements and compliance. This candidate should be adept in advising and analyzing the effectiveness of the benefit programs, while quickly building trust with Aya’s carriers, brokers and internal teams. The candidate is intended to initially consult on the plans, then potentially move to a leadership role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own the development, implementation, and plan administration of Aya’s benefits portfolio.
  • Partner with internal teams on annual open enrollment set up and process (40,000 eligible employees) – including communications, vendor meetings, and post-enrollment activities. The candidate will serve as a point person on reviewing initial recommendations and proposals from our broker and be an internal expert on what each proposed item entails.
  • Manage vendor and broker relationships and performance.
  • Works with HR leadership to distribute all benefits enrollment materials and required notices.
  • Advises and leads required compliance needs, and ensures they are completed to meet all federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal, HR, and brokerage teams to remain up to date on changes in benefits laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with internal accounting team on necessary reconciliation data and reporting.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data to ensure accuracy of benefit enrollments.
  • Is the escalation point regarding employee benefit claim issues and plan changes.
  • Assumes responsibility for special projects and other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience with self-funded benefits plans a must
  • 3 years’ experience as a people manager, as this position may lead a team
  • 10 years of Human Resources experience
  • Highly detail oriented and analytical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience moving the company from fully funded to self-funded plans, a plus
  • Prior experience negotiating with vendors and advising companies, a plus
  • Prior experience with Medicare coordination a plus
  • Staffing industry experience a plus

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be $100,000 to $130,000 annually.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
