RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities

The essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of strategies and programs to help facilitate community involvement with ATP programs and initiatives
  • Research best practices in community engagement nationally and globally and briefs staff on these best practices
  • Maintain a database of community organizations, publications/media outlets, and large events (festivals, sporting events, etc.) to assist with outreach opportunities
  • Maintain an email and phone database of participants in engagement events to inform of past and future opportunities to engage
  • Monitor digital engagement, social media, phone messages, text messages, etc., and provides summary information to staff Monitor digital engagement, social media, phone messages, text messages, etc, and provides summary information to staff
  • Responsible for data collection and keeping accurate records of comments made by public in meetings and other settings (online forum, etc.), analyzes, and summarizes key themes and findings, and identifies need for follow up
  • Coordinate community meetings and events in-person, virtual, and hybrid settings
  • Work collaboratively with Communication Services to assist in design and develop materials for dissemination to the public at large
  • Liaise with stakeholders (neighborhoods, businesses, community groups, institutions, etc.) to provide an active community presence for the client
  • Represent the organization in public and civic meetings, public hearings and in the course of official agency correspondence. This position requires a high degree of discretion in judgment and ability to determine the most optimal strategies that will result in the most benefit to client

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS—EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Urban Planning, Communications, Marketing or related field
  • Additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years
  • Two years of advanced level experience with PC-based word-processing, web design platforms or spreadsheet applications required
  • PREFERRED Bilingual Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or Mandarin
  • PREFERRED Experience working for a public transportation agency
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics consistent with the required qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience working collaboratively, effectively, and constructively with multiple departments and community partner organizations
  • Experience using online platforms for engagement and public meetings (examples- Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Public Input, etc.)
  • Experience in event planning and community outreach coordination
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of standard project management principles and methodologies
  • Effective organizational development and problem-solving skills
  • Effective planning and strategic management skills
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to coordinate and manage events with internal and external partners
  • Ability to produce professional documents
  • Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency using business and communications software, preferably Microsoft Office 365 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office environment, and requires attendance at public meetings, stakeholder meetings, and/or job sites. ATP promotes a safe and healthy work environment and provides appropriate safety and equipment training for all employees as required.
