Latinitas is Hiring a Youth Program Leader Near Austin, TX

Overview:

Latinitas - Austin, TX

Founded in 2002, Latinitas is an Austin-based non-profit that empowers all girls and non-binary students to innovate using media and technology through clubs, camps, workshops and one-day conferences.

We are looking for a Part-Time Program Leader who is enthusiastic, efficient, self-motivated and creative to join the Latinitas team. The Program Leader will demonstrate strong leadership skills and will be able to maintain and effectively facilitate and execute program deliverables.

Program leaders administer lessons in writing, media literacy, photography, filmmaking, blogging and technology projects such as video game design, app creation, virtual reality and more. Our after school, weekend and seasonal programs connect girls with positive role models and encourage girls to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment.

This position is not only meant for those interested in working directly with girls in the community but also act as organization ambassadors.

Program Leader Responsibilities

  • Facilitate your assigned Club Latinitas after-school program sites on a weekly basis from September - May at primarily elementary and middle schools in South, East, and North Austin.
  • Abides by all Club Latinitas rules and regulations, enforces them among groups and applies appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Weekend workshops at Latinitas office, library and public housing spaces in the fall and spring
  • One day “Chica” conferences at local media and technology spaces in the fall and spring
  • Week-long media and tech enrichment summer camps in the summer - June through August
  • Sending content for monthly e-newsletter
  • Follows safety regulations and emergency procedures, responds to critical incidents, performs routine first aid tasks, and ensures the well-being of program attendees

Program Leader Qualifications

  • Understanding of and enthusiastic about the Latinitas mission, vision and programs
  • Must have experience working with youth/children in a classroom, camp, workshop or community space
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Ability to navigate individual responsibilities and be proactive and curious
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 3-6pm, Monday thru Fridays for a max of 3 days
  • This position is recommended for students/graduates with an Associate's or Bachelor's in: Education, Social Work, Communication, RTF, Computer Science
