Job Summary:

As a key member of the management team, the Human Resource Manager will report to the Business Unit Manager and assume a strategic role in the overall human management of the company. Plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Utilize HR metrics and trend analysis to develop and revise human resources policies; maintain policy manual, communicate policies to management and employees of companies informing them of current policy.
  • Communicates the status of Human Resource's objectives and concerns regularly to the General Manager.
  • Represents management in negotiations and analysis of collective bargaining agreement; interprets intent, and terms of contract to counsel management and supervisors in the development and application of labor relations policies and practices; and meets with shop steward and supervisor to investigate and resolve grievances.
  • Promotes and facilitates the development and growth of open, effective intra- and interdepartmental communications throughout the corporation.
  • Promotes and facilitates organizational culture, building strong relationships with internal leaders, colleagues, and the community to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates programs of the organization which promote employee well-being and contribute to controlling the company's future liability from litigation and insurance.
  • Consults in the negotiation of rates and implementation of benefit plans and distributes written and verbal information to inform employees of programs such as insurance plans, pension plans, paid time off, bonus pay, and special employer-sponsored activities.
  • Manages administration and recording of insurance coverage, pension plan, other benefits, and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, disciplines, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Administers compensation plan and its components: Conducts wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate, establishes salary ranges or modifies existing plan or designs new plan including performance management system.
  • Represent the company at an executive level within the community.
  • Supervises plant procedures for barriers and strike preparation.
  • Responsible for full-cycle bi-weekly payroll duties.
  • Responsible for retirement reporting, compliance, and bi-weekly payments.
  • Ensures timely corporate compliance with government regulations and reporting.
  • Administers reductions of workforce and terminations: Compiles documentation and records preparation.
  • Represents the organization at personnel-related legal hearings and investigations.
  • Maintains company policies to conform to current Collective Bargaining Contract, company policy manual and employment laws.
  • Determines administration of policy regarding hiring, training, discipline, termination, benefits, security, and all other relevant policies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; and deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Maintains outside professional contacts.
  • Ensures there is full compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Applicable Bachelor's Degree and minimum 5 - 10 years related experience and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • HRIS experience 5 years
  • Payroll experience 5 years
  • Supervisor or management experience 3 years required.
  • Experience with union negotiations 3 years.
  • Manufacturing experience 5 years

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization both locally and remote locations.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Knowledge of international exchange rates.
