Senior Product Manager, Service Experience We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to help lead our Service Experience focus within our Platform and Data Services subdivision. The Platform and Data Services subdivision primarily builds tools, frameworks, and products for use by internal athenahealth development teams within our athenaOne flagship product. Additionally, we also have a suite of technical products such as APIs, Eventing, CDS Hooks, SSO, etc., that can be leveraged by external customers who want to build on top of the athenaOne ecosystem. These products may be used by existing athenaOne customers who want to build their own apps or by third-party health IT companies who will innovate specific workflows leveraging these tools. This role will be focused on customer-facing experiences for these “builders” to learn about, onboard to, manage, and get support for these technical products. While each technical product is different, the customers using them often leverage more than one so the priority is improving the consistency of experience and depth of capabilities within each to empower our customers. Key responsibilities include: understanding the market and customer, driving to a product vision, developing business cases, ensuring a product or set of product features meets business requirements and driving the creation and delivery of the product. This position will work daily within scrum teams defining and writing user stories, prioritizing product backlogs, and making trade off decisions between scope and schedule. You have a passion for improving healthcare and can speak the language of Dev Portals. You have experience in customer-facing workflows and are passionate about efficiency, usability, simplicity, and the power of good design to deliver business value. Your drive allows you to achieve meaningful results, with empathy for the user of our products and services. You are able to influence both horizontally and vertically inside and outside of an organization. You appreciate the software development process and the varying personalities in the cross-functional groups that we work with. You possess the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and demonstrate sound judgement when determining whether to act independently or escalate. The Team: The Builder Service Experience team supports client-facing workflows and internal support processes that enable the onboarding, usage, management, and support of our Platform technical capabilities that enable these “builders” to leverage all the power of the athenaOne ecosystem within their own apps. We are a mission-driven team of product, engineering, UX, and analytics professionals that are passionate about making healthcare a better industry for care providers and patients. This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA. Job Responsibilities Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of customer jobs to solve within area of responsibility Define epics and user stories, clearly articulating business requirements for the problems we’re trying to solve, in support of and partnership with UX and Engineering team members Understand the market opportunity via user needs, market forces and applicable business models; with regards to what would best serve our clients today as well as in the future Identify and track metrics and success criteria to create transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement – Requesting analyses to inform backlog Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization Serve as Product Owner for scrum teams covering assigned product area Partner with Product Management leaders to drive portfolio and product strategy Engage with Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, and other internal partner teams as needed to determine best ways to communicate product to customers; and to assist Product Management leadership with service descriptions Contribute to the development of overall product management team by lending your knowledge and experience to teach others what you know Typical Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required 7 years overall professional experience, inclusive of a minimum of 4-6 years of product management experience Experience working with Agile (Scrum) teams desired Experience with APIs desired Understanding of healthcare / health IT environments and data interoperability a plus Experience testing and validating value of products in the market Demonstrated success at driving vision and prioritization of products in a dynamic environment using analytic and quantitative capabilities Ability to explain your positioning to various people around the company in an effective way Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with senior leaders and customers About athenahealth Here’s our vision: To create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.
