Associated Students UCLA is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Manager Near Los Angeles, CA

Associated Students UCLA, as a responsive student-centered organization, provides innovative and excellent services, programs, products, and facilities for the entire UCLA community. ASUCLA was created when the campus first opened in 1919. Even in the very early years, ASUCLA meant student government, student publications, and student services such as a bookstore and cafeteria. Today, ASUCLA has evolved into a four-part organization. These four entities collectively make up the largest student association in the country. The four entities are:
  • Undergraduate Students Association – elected representatives of the undergraduate student body.
  • Graduate Students Association – elected representatives of the graduate student body.
  • Student Media – this includes the Daily Bruin, UCLARadio.com, the Bruin Life Yearbook, and seven different magazines.
  • Services & Enterprises – this division is designed to meet the everyday needs of students and the campus community. Major divisions are the Student Union, Event Services, UCLA Restaurants, UCLA Store, UCLA Photography, and Trademarks & Licensing.
Goals of Associated Students UCLA:
Products - To provide essential and convenient items that are easily accessible, of high quality, and low cost, including, but not limited to, academic support, food, trademark merchandise, and convenience products. In addition, to continue evaluating the utility and convenience of all products to make improvements that will best serve the UCLA community.
Facilities - To provide a welcoming environment that contains as much space as possible for the optimal functioning of general academic support, student governments, student organizations, and social gatherings. To have state-of-the-art venues for programming and efficient, aesthetic, and multi-functional commercial outlets.
Programs - To provide and support a diversified array of programming by prioritizing student-run, student-initiated, student-centered programming that reflects the needs of the campus community in order to enhance educational, cultural, and developmental social interaction.
Services - To provide an outstanding level of support to student government, student groups, and student programs through the state-of-the-art office and community spaces, and by providing adequate financial resources and personnel to ensure an active and vibrant campus life.
Facilities Maintenance Manager
Starting Monthly Salary Range: $5,040.00 - $7,561.00
Department: Facilities
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Full supervisory responsibility for approximately 8 or more full-time-equivalent employees including Trades workers and facility workers/mechanics. Incumbents hire, train, promote, evaluate, and discipline maintenance employees. Develop, coordinate, and evaluate training standards and procedures for maintenance personnel. Develop work standards and assignments for maintenance operations. Inspect work performed by Trades workers and facility workers/mechanics for quality control and related purposes. Works with the Director of Facilities to ensure compliance with building/safety codes, laws, and regulations. Experience with working with Unions.
Develops the budget for the maintenance operations, facilities capitals, and utilities. Is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Maintenance office, including financial tracking and reconciliation; developing financial and activities reports on spreadsheets; data entry; reception; filing; ordering supplies; record keeping; and database management. Manages building repair, maintenance, and renovation activities. Coordinates repair requests for ASUCLA facilities directs Facilities Division projects and coordinates with UCLA Facilities when necessary. Functions as the key lead manager on ASUCLA Facilities capital projects. Coordinates project timelines and scheduling of trades. Monitors the progress of renovation and capital projects by conducting review meetings with staff and when needed, University departments. Prepares specifications used for vendor maintenance work. Works with the Director of Facilities to develop bidding materials for vendors. Assists the Director with the negotiation of fees and administering of contracts with consultants, contractors, and vendors. Provides day-to-day interface with Service Areas, customers, repair/maintenance staff, contractors, and University departments. Maintains the work request system and delegates work orders to the maintenance staff. Works to monitor and manage utilities, including IT and telephone infrastructure. Collaborates with UCLA Energy Management and UCLA IT as needed. Maintains and executes ASUCLA’s preventative and deferred maintenance programs. Provides management support in gathering facility information for ASUCLA Department Managers. Performs special assignments. Hours include off-hours during peak periods.
Qualifications:
Requires 5 years of related management experience, preferably in a facilities or maintenance environment that includes dispatch and/or office supervision responsibilities. Experience must demonstrate effective supervisory skills; effective interface with diverse groups/individuals; effective handling of a variety of priorities and deadlines; good verbal/written communication skills. PC word processing/spreadsheet proficiency is required. This position is included in the California Department of Motor Vehicles (“DMV”) PULL NOTICE SYSTEM. ASUCLA will receive notices of any convictions for moving vehicle violations, both on and off the job. Employment is contingent on the maintenance of a valid CA driver’s license and good driving record, as defined by the DMV and ASUCLA. Related BA/BS required, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.

Directly supervises professional and part-time/student staff.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Background Verification:
Fingerprinting Background Verification is required.
