Establish strategic objectives for the University’s space faring endeavors.
Management of the UASI staff and supervision of space flight project and proposal managers
Establish spaceflight project and proposal quality and performance standards, mentoring, and training across University colleges and departments.
Manage spaceflight projects and proposals at the University of Arizona utilizing the direct knowledge and experience with NASA flight project management and NASA doctrine.
Work with the UA principal investigator and project manager to create competitive flight proposals and successfully manage flight projects including science relevance to NASA and national spaceflight objectives, science implementation, mission implementation, spaceflight management methods and practices, realistic and credible pricing and schedule.
Incorporate the science objectives and implementation into the flight project or proposal execution within the constraints of the flight project contract award or flight solicitation.
Create/assist in the creation of project or proposal management philosophy and plan, budgets, and schedules based on the requirements of the project. The management plan, budget, and schedule include external partners. The management approach is based on sponsor requirements including NASA NPRs 7120.8 or 7120.5. Budgets and schedules are based on the NASA work breakdown structure definitions as delineated in the NASA WBS Handbook and NASA pricing guidelines.
Reviews and comment on flight proposals informally and formally to the PI, conducts a proposal compliance check, and informal and formal reviews.
Provides a flight project or proposal assessment to the UASI Director and UA Sponsored Projects.
