Arizona is Hiring a Program Manager, Employment & Transition Near Tucson, AZ

  • Oversee and manage the overall complex operations of a statewide disabilities employment and transition program, being responsive to the unique community identified needs. Create culturally rich and diverse frameworks based on vast acquired experience and interaction, as well as highly comprehensive knowledge, perspective, and essential understanding of youth services, education, vocational rehabilitation, and employment of the disabled.
  • Participate in the strategic decision-making for the University of Arizona Sonoran Center by providing recommendations for integrating current employment and transition programs with other center programming and to inform the work of the Center through disabled community considerations. 
  • Represent the department and UA Sonoran Center by developing relationships, engaging partnerships, and collaborating with external peers and organizations throughout the state and national disability networks to address disability employment and transition concerns and share best practices.
  • Manage and liaise with the stakeholder advisory council to influence and ensure the smooth execution of programs and achieve program objectives. Identify on-going needs and expressed preferences of disabled citizens to inform the work of the Sonoran Center. 
  • Supervise staff affiliated with the activities and projects of the program.
  • Provide leadership and vision to determine objectives and approaches for conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and managing trainings, services, and programs in disability-related areas addressing identified needs and emerging issues focused on innovation, model development, capacity building, and promising interventions and practices utilizing specialized knowledge about disability frameworks. 
  • Ensure all elements are in place for successful implementation.
  • Oversee the leveraging of resources and external dollars through grants and contracts.
  • Identify and lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals and secure extramural funding in response to current and emerging state and national issues.
  • Oversee budgets, staff supervision, reporting, and grant deliverables of successfully funded projects. 
  • Lead the engagement with the Sonoran Center research team to conduct employment/transition research and evaluation of existing programs, interpret results, and translate findings into multiple formats for use by a variety of audiences to include training and technical assistance, data-informed decision-making, and policy development impacting disability services.
  • Ensure development of relevant online and written products, presentations, and resources tailored specifically to the disabled community and other diverse audiences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of instructional practices to teach, support, and accommodate individuals with a variety of disabilities.
