The Wyant College of OpticalSciences has been fortunate to receive philanthropic support to create 14 newEndowed Chairs in Optical Science positions in the college. Whilepositions are open at all levels, very highly accomplished applicants will alsobe considered as potential recipients for the nine Endowed Chairs that areavailable to be awarded:
The Wyant College of OpticalSciences at the University of Arizona is world-renowned for the breadth anddepth of its research and education programs in Optical Sciences. The College’sPhotonics program, one of four major research areas, has a broad scope rangingfrom integrated photonic devices, fiber components, and subsystems forclassical and quantum fiber and free-space optical communications, sensing andimaging, to integrated systems for next-generation optical networks, to newtools, such as small-footprint, high-throughput multiphoton microscopes,high-power semiconductor lasers, and optical-computing. A strong program in Quantum InformationScience and Engineering (QISE) includes integrated photonics, non-linear andquantum optics, quantum opto-mechanics, RF and phononic materials and devices,open quantum systems, and quantum networking, information and detection theory.The Wyant College of Optical Sciences leads the NSF Center for Quantum NetworksERC that advances and showcases these photonics and quantum technologies in ahighly collaborative environment.
This open-rank faculty position isenvisioned to complement the current Photonics faculty expertise at OSC and thesuccessful candidate(s) may initiate fundamental studies or new directions inphotonics for the College, or enhance different genres of existing photonicsplatforms towards new applications and large-scale systems engineering efforts.

This tenure/tenure-track position anticipates a candidate with demonstratedstrength in their field of research. Successful candidates are expected to setup a world class research program and demonstrate strong commitment to teaching.Duties include:
For private sector or government laboratoryapplicants, lack of a proven teaching and extramural research funding recordcould be addressed with otherrelated credentials that demonstrate strong communications skills and ademonstrated history of technical depth and leadership. We seek anindividual who is able to work with and attract a diverse group ofundergraduate and graduate students and colleagues. Development of novelcourses pertaining to the candidate’s area of expertise, as well as exceptionalteaching of our core curriculum, is expected.
