Ares is Hiring a Project Manager I Near Washington, DC

ARES is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide project management support at Marshall Space Flight Center to support Workplace Collaboration Services (WCS) projects, initiatives, and operational activities in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency's enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA's message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA's communication to the outside world.

This is a remote opportunity.

This position will include but not be limited to the following activities:

  • Attend various meetings as directed by the Project Manager Lead.
  • Ensure that Project Communications are appropriate and correct for project team and/or stakeholder distribution.
  • Assist in the delivery of business-critical services to ensure that customers' expectations are met.
  • Identify critical success factors and key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with other WCS Service Elements to perform required project management coordination.
  • Improve and set high standards for project delivery.
  • Display excellent time and resource management skills, anticipating fluctuations in workload and taking proactive steps to minimize impact to schedules and deadlines.
  • Coordinate in support of WCS project efforts in collaboration with the NEST/AEGIS/EAST2/eMITS contractor.
  • Provide excellent customer presentation skills to include briefing large and/or high-level executives.
  • Provide a strong understanding of NASA Procedural Requirement (NPR) 7120.7, NASA Information Technology and Institutional Infrastructure Program and Project Management Requirements to provide governance and oversight to WCS efforts.
  • Perform oversight of systems engineering activities including requirements definition, design, procurement, installation, end-to-end integration, Verification & Validation (V&V), and transition to operations of new and modified systems and services in accordance with NPR 7123.1, NASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements and NPR 7120.7, NASA Information Technology and Institutional Infrastructure Program and Project Management Requirements.
  • Perform oversight of Key Decision Points reviews in accordance with NPR 7120.7, NASA Information Technology and Institutional Infrastructure Program and Project Management Requirements.
  • Perform analysis, review, and recommendations to ensure of System Engineering Reviews and Key Decision Point Review deliverables meet the requirements defined in NPR 7120.7 and the Information Technology Program/Project IT Project Management Handbook (NASA OCIO / SP-2020-0002).
  • Perform analysis, review, and recommendation on project schedules to ensure compliance with GAO-12-120G Schedule Assessment Guide.

This position will be responsible for providing the following deliverables:

  • Microsoft Project schedules (weekly)
  • NPR 7120.7a Deliverables (prior to scheduled review)
  • Project status updates (as requested)

Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions the employee bears travel costs to nearest NASA Center for badging and issue of NASA IT equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Entry level experience in IT project management with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and development processes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively coordinate and manage project teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software for planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely and within-budget project completion.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including clients, team members, and third-party vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex project challenges.
  • Understanding of IT security principles and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in managing projects within the NASA environment.

PMP Certification

Education and Relevant Work Experience

Minimum education - BA/BS in Project Management, Business Administration, or an IT related discipline. Minimum experience - 2 years
