Veterinary Practice Manager

The Practice Manager is an essential member of our team at Animal Farm and must have experience managing business operations and successfully leading people. Our ideal candidate is driven to cultivate employee relations, culture, diversity, and leadership in the complex veterinary hospital setting. We are looking for a collaborative team player that can work with, and complement the knowledge of, other team members of the hospital, including all the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and the Operations team and other Support Center teams.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of approximately 15 or more direct reports
• Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations
• Train the team on professional, efficient, and unmatched client experience (lead by example), to include client education, preventive care, pet health needs, marketing campaigns, and effectively resolve client issues.
• Identify potential obstacles or opportunities and formulate solutions to remove barriers in operations that would impede the team from delivering excellent care and experience.
• Partner with the Operations Advisor, Support Center and Medical Director to interview, select, train, develop, coach, mentor, and if necessary, discipline and terminate team members.
• Partnering with the Medical Director, effectively create and maintain veterinarians’ work schedules to ensure proper coverage to meet client needs and proactively planning PTO and CE scheduling.
• Develop annual planning, budgeting, and hospital productivity levels for the hospitals in partnership with Support team, OA and hospital leadership.
• Provide effective communication between the hospital team, clients, OA and Support center teams.
• Work with the UVC payroll team to audit, verify and update payroll for over 100 employees.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or equivalent experience preferred
• CVPM, SHRM-CP MBA or other advanced degree, a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in operations of veterinary hospitals
• Ability to utilize HR reporting platforms (HRIS, ATS)
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of operations, management training, and budgeting, including financial results and KPI’s.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication; ability to influence and articulate a variety of issues to different audiences, tailoring messages accordingly.
• Computer experience and proficiency required
• Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks
• Enthusiastic team player with a patient, and positive professional attitude.
