American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) specializes in geotechnical engineering, pavement engineering, environmental consulting, building technology consulting, construction materials design and testing, and petrographic/chemical analysis. We have a great opportunity for someone interested in engineering, construction, or environmental work experience. We are looking for an engineering technician that is up for working outside and in a lab setting, under minimal supervision (after on-the-job training), to perform the following work:
Perform field testing of plastic concrete, soils, bituminous, or masonry products
o Perform field density and Proctor density test of soils.
o Perform field testing of plastic concrete.
o Perform laboratory testing of bituminous materials.
o Observe excavations and correlate the observations with soil boring logs.
o Perform hand auger borings under the direction of the project manager.
o Perform other laboratory tests and calibrations.
Report test results
Communication with project manager
Communicate with client, earthwork contractor and/or ready-mix supplier.
Conduct miscellaneous projects involving work procedures, laboratory and equipment.
Laboratory maintenance
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
2-year vocational or college degree is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Communication skills sufficient to work effectively with clients and coworkers.
Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.
Capable of the physical labor required including work at hazardous waste sites, with personal protective equipment. To perform this job effectively, you must be able to:
Frequently lift 30-60 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
Occasionally lift 60-100 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
Frequently carry 30-60 pounds for 10-30 feet.
Occasionally carry 60-100 pounds for 10-30 feet.
Stand for up to 8 hours, often on uneven surfaces.
Move for up to 8 hours, with frequent bending and stooping.
