Executive Chef 

Job Overview

The Executive Chef is responsible to prepare a variety of food and desserts. Ideal candidate will possess skills in creating high quality food matched with creativity to develop new amazing tastes and recipes. Candidate should also be well-versed in culinary arts with a passion for delicious creations. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving. The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele.

Requirements

Proven experience as Chef, Sous Chef, or relevant role

Great attention to detail and creativity

Organizing and leadership skills

Willingness to replenish professional knowledge

In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition

Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)

Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field

Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities.

Essential Functions

Prepare a wide variety of goods such as lunch, dinner, appetizers etc. following traditional and modern recipes.

Create new and renew our menus and engage the interest of customers.

Ensure the presentation of meals are in correct order, beautiful and exciting before food goes out.

Monitor stocks for cooking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget.

Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.

Guide and motivate kitchen staff to work more efficiently.

Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel.

Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.

Remains knowledgeable on products offered.

Competencies

Education/Experience: 2-3 years equivalent work experience.

Language skills: Must be capable of communicating at a professional level in English with customers and co-workers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.

Mathematical skills: Must be capable of accurately performing financial calculations and costing of recipes. Ability to adjust recipes based on volume needed.

  1. ability: Must be a multi-task individual with the ability to prioritize activities in such a manner to best serve customers. Must demonstrate ability to deal with unhappy customers or employees and ability to calm a confrontational situation if needed. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Work Environment: Employee will spend time in a restaurant setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical demands: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use their hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more regularly. Must be able to work at a fast pace. 

Work hours: The position is estimated to be 40-55 hours per week.

Hours and Availability 

Typical workweek: 40-55 hours 

*May be more hours during high event seasons.

Requires weekend and evening availability.

Hours vary depending on business demand.

Benefits and Pay

Employees are considered “full time status" if the employee consistently works over 30 hours per work week. Benefits are offered to all full time employees after 60 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision and a free life insurance policy.

This position starts at $60-$65k/year, based on experience.
