Position Summary

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company with a strong focus on standard cost. The incumbent will contribute to the development and maintenance of Cost accounting, financial reporting, planning and budgeting systems. The Assistant Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Management

• Manage and supervise the daily operations of the accounting department.
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff; recommend and implement personnel actions such as promotions and dismissals.
• Support all aspects of accounting management.

Accounting

• Perform cost variance analysis.
• Standard cost maintenance (Bill of Material and router audits).
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable process at the plant.
• Manage/prepare journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing.
• Prepare, analyze, and explain variances for all financial statements and monthly reporting in compliance with GAAP.
• Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and capital requests.
• Participate in preparation for audits and physical inventories.
• Analyze cash flow, cost control and expenses, as well as collaborate with the various functional leaders to suggest and implement improvements.
• Prepares cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handles daily cash management.
• Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.
• Assist with intercompany balances (reconciliations).
• Inventory Tracking, Program Profitability, Project Status Report, Reserve Schedules, etc.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience.
• Prior accounting manager, assistant controller or controller experience required. 6 years of relevant experience, manufacturing environment preferred.
• CMA or CPA a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong sense of urgency, ownership and dedication to responsibilities and projects/tasks assigned.
• Comfortable working in a cross-functional team environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Manages and motivates team members to perform above expectations; and holds people accountable for their performance. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
