Position Title: Human Resource (HR) Generalist

Reports to: Chief ofOperations 

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

Aldevra, a growing government contractor, is on the lookout for a skilled Human Resource (HR) Generalist. This role is ideal for someone adept in multi-state HR management. While prior experience in government contracting is a plus, it's not a requirement – we provide comprehensive training. This position offers a significant opportunity for those who are eager to develop in a dynamic and diverse environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Recruitment and Staffing: Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding. Develop innovative strategies to attract top talent.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage and oversee employee benefits programs. Ensure employees are informed about their benefits and any changes.
  • Payroll Approval: Review/approve payroll prepared by others for accuracy and compliance. Address and resolve any payroll-related issues.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns. Resolve workplace issues effectively and foster a positive work environment.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and ensure the effectiveness of performance management systems. Provide support and guidance to managers and employees regarding performance evaluations.
  • Leadership Development Programs: Design and implement leadership and professional development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Compliance and Policies: Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Update policies and procedures as necessary including the Employee Handbook.
  • Safety Management: Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures, especially across multiple states, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Multi-State HR Management: Navigate the complexities of HR practices across different states, adapting to various legal and cultural environments.
  • Compensation Management: Oversee and structure compensation packages, ensuring they are competitive and equitable across various roles and regions.
  • Training and Development: Identify and facilitate training opportunities for staff development, enhancing skills and knowledge in line with company goals and individual career paths.
  • Affirmative Action and Employment Equity Programs: Develop and maintain programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Personnel Research: Conduct research to analyze and improve HR practices, policies, and strategies.
  • Employee Retention and Engagement: Implement strategies to increase employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
  • Staying Current on Best Practices: Continuously update knowledge on HR best practices, trends, and legal updates, especially in government contracting.
  • Workforce Recognition Applications: Lead initiatives to apply for workforce recognition awards, showcasing the company’s commitment to employee excellence and satisfaction.
  • Administrative Duties: Handle various administrative tasks, including answering phones, maintaining HR records, and other duties as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in Human Resources, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Strong understanding of HR functions, including recruitment, benefits, payroll, and employee relations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
