Job description
Position Summary
We are currently seeking a dedicated Medical Records Support Specialist to join our team. This vital role supports the management and maintenance of medical records across clinical and administrative functions. The specialist will ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of medical records, adhering strictly to health information management (HIM) policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Records Management: Identify, locate, deliver, retrieve, and refile medical records as required for clinical and administrative purposes.
Records Analysis and Compliance: Analyze health records for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, and compliance. Ensure all documentation is correct and linked appropriately.
Digital Record Keeping: Utilize RPMS/Vista Imaging to scan records into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring complete and compliant medical records.
Documentation Verification: Review medical records for missing documents, signatures, or information and notify providers of deficiencies.
Communication: Handle phone inquiries, assisting visitors and callers with forms, documents, and providing detailed explanations of office functions.
Information Release: Review, photocopy/print/write to electronic media, and release health records as authorized. Accurately enter request information into the RPMS/ROI section, ensuring timely processing and maintaining disclosure records.
Emergency Information Handling: Respond to urgent requests for medical information from hospitals, law enforcement, and other entities, ensuring sensitive information is released following standards and laws.
Records Maintenance: Conduct searches for lost records, prepare records for retirement, request records from other facilities, and perform quality review audits on scanned documents.
Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Overtime: Potential for overtime as needed
Technical Capabilities Required
Proficient in managing, analyzing, and processing medical records according to HIM policies and procedures.
Skilled in using RPMS/Vista Imaging for digitizing records into the EHR.
Capable of handling ROI forms, assisting with form completion, and explaining office functions and requirements.
Experience in reviewing both paper and electronic health records, identifying materials for release, and ensuring authorized information release.
Ability to conduct quality audits on scanned documents and perform a wide range of records management tasks.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Salary: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
