Overview
Under general supervision of the Tobacco Cessation Manager, this position involves planning, conducting, and evaluating a broad range of education programs for smoking cessation.
This position is also responsible for providing telephone hotline support and guidance to adult and youth audiences for tobacco cessation.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Anaheim Regional Medical Center (ARMC).
It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the core values of ARMC. The employee shall support Anaheim Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.
The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to : Customer Service, Patient Rights, Confidentiality of Information, and Environment of Care.
This position is 3 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Provide Tobacco Cessation Counseling in Spanish via telephone or virtually. Conduct email outreaching to Spanish population-serving agencies.
Qualifications

A. Consistently apply infection control policies / practices.
B. Meet population specific competencies.
C. Attend department specific education / training, inservices, and staff meetings.
D. Participate in department specific performance improvement projects.
E. Collects, prepares, and plans educational programs through personal interviews, group meetings, and library
research; conducts preliminary analysis of such data; develops program services.
F. Develops and disseminates public health education information; prepares Tobacco Cessation materials and activities;
prepares informational materials to explain community services.
G. Researches most recent best practices in tobacco education for revision of tobacco cessation curriculum.
H. Plans, conducts, and evaluates smoking cessation classes and screenings when appropriate at designated local
community locations; ensures materials, equipment, and facilities are arranged and set up accordingly.
I. Provides telephone hotline cessation services to both adult and youth callers. Assures confidentiality of information to
all participants and provides follow-ups to determine cessation success.
J. Identifies and catalogues community resources and leaders who will be useful in implementing health education
programs within the various geographic areas.
K. Responsible for all data collection and reporting requirements established by the tobacco prevention and cessation
program contract.
