Role Overview
The Talent Aquisition Specialist will be responsible for and/or assist with daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices, with a particular focus on recruiting strategy and execution. 
 Core Responsibilities
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Manages relationships with campus career centers and coordinates all campus recruiting efforts. 
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Coordinates new hire orientation.
  • Assists in the maintenance of employee records in HRIS including documents, benefits and attendance records.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • May assist other HR staff in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Seeks out knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business Admin or related field
  • One (1) year of HR related experience
  • SHRM-CP/PHR certification preferred
