Position Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $20.00 - $21.00 Hourly

Description

 

I. POSITION SUMMARY

Developing and implementing Generations of Faith, faith enrichment programs (specifically during Advent and Lent) and annual Vacation Bible School. The assistant will report directly to the Director of Faith Formation. Family Faith Formation and will work in partnership with the Director and PAA to ensure the ministry reflects Jesus as its center and focus and provides cutting edge and engaging programs and events.

Additionally, the assistant must be able to make pastoral decisions as needed and provide professional communication to all who have dealings with the ministry and the parish. This is a 20 hours per week part time position and involves working flexible hours, including weekends and some evenings.

II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develops plans and directs CLOW, faith enrichment programs (especially for young families and for seniors) and annual Vacation Bible School.
  2. Leads or attends planning meetings related to responsibilities noted above, objectives, strategies and goals.
  3. Attend monthly Staff Meetings
  4. Prepares for and teaches classes in specified areas.
  5. Recruits, trains, motivates, and provides general and specific direction to volunteers involved with faith formation activities and programs.
  6. Ensure that all volunteers receive safe environment training before giving Stewardship of time.
  7. Development and distribution of participants, catechists, parents and parishioners, such as registration forms, calendar, bulletin, etc.
  8. Development and distribution of Sacramental preparation (Baptismal, First Communion and Marriage) with our English Community to participants, catechists, parents and parishioners.

 

III. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

A. Prepares Bulletin Announcements related to ministry.

B. Maintains inventory of educational supplies and re-orders as appropriate.

C. Performs other duties as assigned.

Oversees Vacation Bible School

  1. Working with Youth Ministry leader, recruits a leadership team and sets a schedule to organize the program’s events
  2. Determines the dates and theme for the VBS program
  3. Determines job descriptions for each of the key leadership roles, including promotion, snacks, registration, playground, crafts, music, opening and closing assemblies, toddler program etc., and delegates tasks to members of the leadership team
  4. Determines dates for and facilitates leader/helper training sessions
  5. Ensures all adult leaders adhere to Safe & Sacred policies
  6. Oversees promotion plan and registration procedures and deadline
  7. Manages financials, including budget plan and determining donations needed (e.g., supplies, decorations, snacks, etc.)
  8. Ensures health and safety standards and first aid procedures
  9. Orders tee shirts and oversees distribution
  10. Determines follow up strategies for participants as well as leaders/helpers
  11. During VBS, oversees all of the activities and assists with discipline and first aid incidents
  12. Organizes daily volunteer meetings/prayers during VBS week
  13. Determines feedback plan (i.e., from parents and volunteers) and organizes summary results
  14. Organizes notes as support for the next year’s VBS

Qualifications


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as needed. 

2. Some experience working in an office environment.

3. Detail oriented and accurate

4. Good organizational skills and analytical thinking;

5. Ability to meet deadlines.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
