Waltham Public School District is Hiring a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Near Waltham, MA

SPECIAL EDUCATION Board Certified Behavior Analyst
The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can provide behavioral consultation and monitoring of our programs and staff which provide services for students who may be classified as autistic, pervasively developmentally disabled or similarly challenged.
Qualifications :
Education, Training and Experience:
  1. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education as a Teacher of Students with Moderate or Severe Special Needs.
  3. Demonstrated subject matter competence, highly qualified, in the area of licensure.
  4. Proven competence in applied behavioral analysis and similar areas of expertise.
Knowledge Required:
  1. Currency in providing services for students on the autism spectrum.
  2. Experience in planning and assessing of instruction.
  3. Skilled in effective classroom management techniques.
  4. Effectiveness in designing and implementing Individualized Education Plans.
  5. Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity.
  6. Expertise in electronic record-keeping and data collection related to student performance.
  7. Fulfillment of professional responsibilities.
Abilities Required:
  1. Ability to deliver effective instruction and train staff in providing such instruction.
  2. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet student needs and to assist staff in doing so.
  3. Ability to administer required student testing and assessments.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
Skills Required:
  1. Effective classroom management skills.
  2. Excellent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
  3. Effective interpersonal skills.
  4. Skills in the provision of needed services for the target student population.

Observes instruction and consults with staff on effective implementation.
Supervises students and evaluates their achievement.

Description of Duties:

  3. Advises staff on appropriate educational materials.
  4. Performs scheduled duties promptly.
  1. Fulfills paperwork responsibilities promptly.
  2. Maintains professional competence through in-service educational
activities.
  1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of programs, services and
techniques.
  1. Understands and advises staff on the Massachusetts Curriculum
Frameworks.
  1. Teacher/Pupil/Parent Interaction
  1. Advises staff on their responsibility for providing a safe, supportive learning environment for every student.
  2. Relates well to staff and students of varied proficiency.
  3. Provides and promotes opportunities for staff to develop a wholesome self-concept.
  4. Assists staff to guide students toward self-control.
  5. Advises staff on effective student structure.
  6. Attends team meetings as needed.
  7. Remains approachable to students and parents, as needed.
  8. Contributes to a positive and effective working relationship between school and home.

  1. Duties Related to the Specific Student Population
  2. a) Provides staff with advice and training in verbal and non-verbal
student communication needs.
  1. b) Assists staff to develop and implement social interaction skills and

inappropriate responses to sensory experiences
  1. d) Provides advice and information on addressing repetitive and stereotyped student behavior.
