Job Description:Special Education teachers, nurses, paraprofessionals, and related service providers are needed for the Waltham Public Schools Special Education Extended School Year programs.

Qualified teachers, site coordinators and related service provider applicants must be Massachusetts DESE licensed in moderate or severe special education and highly qualified in terms of subject matter knowledge and familiarity with the best practices in instruction for all students, the state curriculum frameworks, grade level benchmarks, a variety of assessment strategies and techniques and must exhibit effective organizational and interpersonal skills. 

Qualified paraprofessional applicants must have a high school diploma and demonstrate the ability to work with students under the direction of the teacher/nurse/or support staff, support and reinforce the teacher's expectations for students, and be able to work with students on academic tasks assigned by the teacher.

  Site Coordinators $7332 (includes pre/post work at the rate of $39/hour) $39 for 7 hours a day x 19 days 55 hours of pre/post program planning, including but not limited to interviewing, hiring staff, collecting curricula, scheduling and organizing classroom organization, dissemination of summer progress reports.

  Nursing Coordinator $5967 (includes pre and post work at the rate of $39.00/hour) $39 for 7 hours a day x 19 days 20 hours of pre and post program planning, including but not limited to interviewing/hiring staff, providing ongoing support to summer health offices and PIC, and providing substitute coverage if needed.

  Teachers/Nurses/Tutors/Related Service Providers $39.00/hour for either 6 hours a day x 19 days 10 hours of pre/post work = $4836 $39.00/hour for 5 hours a day x 18 days 10 hours of pre/post work for a total of $3900

  Paraprofessionals $20.50/hour for 4.5 hours a day x 18 days = $1660.50 $20.50/hour for 5.5 hours a day x 19 days = $2142.25

  High School Aides $11/hour
