Position Summary

This position is essential to ensuring success for the Airbus U.S. Military Line of Business against sales targets. The position is responsible for managing all aspects of Business Development operations, including establishing and tracking targets and milestones, reporting activity, pre-contract project management and sales support (trade shows, marketing materials, presentation materials). This ensures the pace and rhythm of the customer engagement needed to achieve targets. The BD Operations Manager routinely interfaces with senior executives and company leadership. The ideal candidate is able to multi-task across a range of activities using a broad skill set.

Responsibilities

1. Manage Pre-Contract Projects: 20%

  • Stand up and manage key projects ahead of contract award (Self-funded development, site surveys, complex demonstrations, etc)

2. Operational Support to Airbus U.S. BD & Strategy Team: 50%

  • Provide budget oversight including formulation, tracking and execution
  • Maintain organizational cadence, long-range calendar planning, and event synchronization
  • Develop and maintain a library of historical documents, presentation materials, and other products to facilitate the creation of briefing materials and sales / marketing messages; provide support in creating briefing materials as needed
  • Support the development of customer proposals as required
  • Facilitate the creation and finalization of deliverables in coordination with campaign leads, offers/proposals, Program Management, pricing/costing, and Government Relations
  • Support the development and submission of purchase requests, sponsorships, donations, and memberships in support of the business development team
  • Forecast marketing an promotional items; identify concepts for improving brand visibility and marketing
  • Conduct long-range planning and resourcing in support of trade shows, demos, and other key events
  • Support submission of Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Assist in the development and management of teaming, partnering, and supplier interactions
  • Maintain key contact lists and consolidated engagement plans

3. Develop & Manage Internal Processes: 30%

  • Lead and instantiate processes, procedures, and tools to ensure organizational success and accountability
  • Conduct reviews, capture lessons learned, and guide the development of improvements, innovation, and utilization of best practices to enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Manage established business development milestones through constant monitoring and reporting
  • Manage business reviews through established Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and track associated actions, tasks, and suspense dates
  • Manage and track internal training requirements

4. Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, engineering, aeronautics, or related field or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in Aerospace Defense or other related industries (or corresponding military experience)
  • Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of experience specific to the Helicopter industry

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Direct Military customer experience.
  • Strong product and customer experience
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations; Comfortable presenting detailed briefings to senior executives
  • Ability to manage varied complex projects to a successful outcome
  • Understanding of sales operations, and the interface with other key functional areas such as Offers/Proposals, Pricing/Costing, Government Relations and Program Management.
  • Proven track record of successful outcomes in complex multi-functional teams.
  • Willingness to proactively engage to develop new processes and ways of working.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Required : SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce

Travel Required:

  • Up to 20% travel required
  • Support internal and external customer meetings, conferences, events as required as well as supporting overseas management communication events as required.

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Carrying: able to carry documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
