Oxbow Calcining LLC is currently looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in our Baton Rouge, LA office. 

Essential Job Duties:

• Prepares and posts monthly journal entries for recurring transactions.
• Approves all purchase requisitions after reviewing the accounting coding.
• Analyzes and reviews all SG&A expenses prior to month-end closing.
• Ensures accuracy of the transactions versus budget. Reclassifies all necessary transactions and expenses that need to be capitalized and amortized.
• Gathers and reviews documentation for capital projects and fixed assets.
• Reviews the accuracy of sub-ledgers and trial balance.
• Reviews and reconciles monthly balance sheet accounts.
• Effectively and efficiently analyzes and reports on gross profit and/or budget variance for areas of responsibility.
• Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
• Maintains knowledge of and ensures all aspects of accounting comply with established policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrates and applies an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of ERP applications (preferably Oracle).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
