JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Human Resources has full responsibility for all HR subject matters, both strategic and tactical, for Kinedyne’s North America operations in the US, Canada, and Mexico (site-based and remote). Along with managing the HR function for the business while reporting directly to the President of Kinedyne, the Director, Human Resources will also collaborate work closely with the VP, Human Resources for ASG (Applied Solutions Group) on overarching topics and key initiatives. The Director, Human Resources is an engaged partner within the Kinedyne Executive Leadership Team and will be a key contributor to strategic planning and goal setting within the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Participate with executive management in overall strategic planning for the business and supporting those efforts through the HR function with communication, employee engagement, and individual performance.
  • Develop and maintain a position of trusted advisor to the President and to the Executive Team members.
  • Directly or indirectly lead a team of at least three HR professionals. Presently, this includes an exempt Senior HR Generalist and a non-exempt HR Specialist based in Prattville, AL, and an HR Manager based in Mexico City.
  • Recommend, develop, interpret, and clarify HR policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the recruitment process for all positions by analyzing key positions within the organization, developing job descriptions, utilizing recruitment tools, screening and interviewing candidates, and being an active, leading participant in the hiring process.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in the HR function and maintain technical and regulatory HR expertise to ensure delivery of appropriate advice and counsel.
  • Conduct confidential HR investigations in a fair, balanced, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate consensus building and mediation skills to constructively address employee conflicts.
  • Partner with the EHS&S Manager-North America on compliance with safety and worker’s compensation policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the delivery of onboarding, new hire orientation, and training.
  • Maintain all employment files, I-9 records, investigation results, and other personnel records and ensure compliance with all labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage and drive talent management and development for all of Kinedyne North America. Develop and coordinate regular talent reviews with follow-up development actions.
  • Create and promote various employee participation and recognition programs and lead Company-sponsored events to promote a positive, engaging, and energized work culture.
  • Regularly communicate with the ASG VP, Human Resources regarding key metrics and developments including a formal monthly report.
  • Be an active participant in intercompany projects and on scheduled calls with intercompany HR leadership.
  • Partner with Group and Heico Legal on matters related to employment law and compliance.
  • Oversee benefits administration including new hire benefits orientation and the annual open enrollment process.
  • Facilitate the leave of absence process in conjunction with a third-party administrator.
  • Develop and oversee the departmental budget.

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology or a related discipline required.
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • HR certification(s) such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP strongly preferred. Global certification such as GPHR a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in manufacturing, production, or a related industry.
  • At least 7 years of HR management experience, including the supervision of an HR staff.

  • Strong social skills including interpersonal, telephone, and email skills to successfully work and communicate with a variety of personalities.
  • Exceptional action and customer service orientation with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional, organized, and positive demeanor, even when dealing with difficult issues and challenging situations. Approachable and calm with a proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and tact.
  • Ability to think and operate on the fly, to assess situations, to weigh options, and to make sound business decisions.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills.
  • Must have a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and the aptitude to provide counseling and advice that is ethically sound and sensible.
  • Exposure to HRIS systems. Experience with UKG Pro a plus but not required.
  • Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and LinkedIn.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws, regulations and compliance in the US required; exposure to laws and regulation in Canada and Mexico a plus.
  • Union avoidance experience preferred. Experience with unions, particularly Mexican unions, a plus.
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel, both air and vehicular, approximately 15% of the time, which will include driving, flying, and overnight travel. Travel includes domestic and international (Canada and Mexico, specifically) as required.
