Salary: Starting @ $55K/yr
Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands- various locations
Schedule: Monday-Friday 11am-7pm

Position Summary:
The Education Support Lead will oversee key academic initiatives/development and programming at all BGCM Clubs. The Lead is responsible for working with Clubs in order to ensure successful facilitation of Educational Programs and Power Hour curriculum for members ages 6 to 18, as well as identifying new opportunities for academic support and collaborating with the STEAM coordinator as applicable. The position is responsible for facilitating and supervising activities daily at BGCM Clubs and creating partnerships within the community to enhance curriculum, professional development, and funding opportunities. They will be responsible for management of all associated curriculum which includes training the team of YDP’s, Program Specialists and Club Directors in best practices when assessing members and implementing curriculum and activities along with outcomes. Along with these educational support programs, the Lead will supervise BGCM’s part-time tutors and seek opportunities to grow the tutoring program.
Essential Functions:
  • Oversee and develop Educational Support programming and Power Hour at all BGCM locations
  • Supervise Tutors at multiple Club locations
  • Oversee the tutoring program at applicable Clubs; work to grow existing program to include paid teen tutors in line with Club needs
  • Train Club/program staff on best practices for applicable software utilized to implement Educational Programs
  • Serve as a consultant to Club/program staff in order to best set-up spaces used for academic support programming and initiatives, ensuring members are set up for success
  • Consult with staff and members and collaborate to carry out goals for applicable programs (both overall Club goals and members’ individual goals)
  • Gather and maintain ongoing data to provide weekly reports on participation to drive growth, instruction, and improvement
  • Budget for and monitor expenses for supplies needed including incentives
  • Serve as the main information source and point of contact for data and reports to the administrative team, especially regarding grant applications and reports
  • Conduct professional development trainings (emphasis on delivering quality academic activities)
  • Track attendance and participation in applicable programs at the Clubs and plan retention efforts toward goals
  • Develop and implement curriculum for applicable programs, ensuring excitement and inspiration amongst program staff in order to best engage members
  • Plan and implement recognition and incentive special gatherings and events
  • Assist the Club Staff in implementing applicable programs, providing direct instruction in an environment that furthers the members’ interests in academic and to support increased engagement in academic
  • Attend meetings and donor tours in an advisory role, or as a presenter of relevant information, as requested.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor in Education with current licenses in either Iowa or Nebraska
  • Five years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience in non-profit education or setting preferred
  • Demonstrable passion for BGCM’s mission; a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to create and deliver training materials as it relates to the curriculum
  • Knowledge of best academic practices as well as local and state standards in the areas of academic
  • Must be able to work effectively with children of all ages
  • Experience working with and demonstrating compassion and/or sensitivity toward vulnerable populations and individuals with diverse backgrounds present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies
  • Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency), Zoom or other Virtual Meeting platforms, and Google Platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to earn and maintain mandatory CPR & First aid certification
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements to drive a BGCM vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, criminal, and driving records investigation
  • The ability to read/write efficiently is necessary to complete reports and properly document curriculum and organizational data
