Schedule: Mon-Fri
Salary: Starting at $15/hr

Position Summary:
The Facilities Associate assists the Director of Facilities in the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities solely owned and operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands. This person follows both company and industry standards for vehicle repair, safe operation of equipment, and maintenance and replacement of equipment. He/she must also establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Club staff, custodial staff, Administration, professional service contractors, and any contracted cleaning services.
Essential Functions:
General Duties
Assist is moving equipment, donations, supplies, etc from Club to Club as needed
  • Deep cleaning areas of Clubs as needed
  • Change light bulbs in Clubs as needed with assistance of motorized lift
Safety
  • Ensures all building, grounds and parking lots are safe, well ventilated and well-lit by emergency lights, exit signs, and standard lighting system
  • Ensures all fire alarm systems are tested quarterly, recorded, and kept in a permanent file
  • Ensures facilities are kept OSHA compliant
  • Responds to any safety concerns in a timely manner and performs minor maintenance promptly; reports and follows-up on repairs
  • Conducts regular safety checks on equipment and Club vehicles
Lawn Care Program/Fence Line Maintenance
  • Conducts mowing, trimming, and all other lawn care activities for all BGCM facilities
  • Assists in maintaining lawns throughout entire season with extra time spent on preparing for both start of season and winter freeze
  • Conducts trimming and spraying on both sides of the fence lines on all Club Properties
Snow Removal
  • Assists in snow removal at all Clubs, to include early morning hours to ensure walks are clear before staff arrive to work (when possible)
  • Operates snow blowers and/or shovels snow on sidewalks and salts sidewalks
Building/Equipment Repair
  • Assists in maintaining building equipment at BGCM Clubs
  • Assists in making repairs and/or replacing all appliances, electrical, plumbing and hardware
  • Assists in pool maintenance and upkeep as needed
Vehicles
  • Conducts vehicle safety inspections regularly
  • Transports vehicles to regularly scheduled maintenance appointments
Inventory
  • Assists in donation pick-ups, distributions when needed
Qualifications:
  • Experience in the area of building trades, preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience preferred in facilities management.
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and project management abilities, attention to detail, and promptness
  • Experience working with and demonstrating compassion and/or sensitivity toward vulnerable populations and individuals with diverse backgrounds present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies
  • Must effectively and comfortably manage in a virtual environment:
    • Must serve as a technology advocate and understand the tools available and optimal methods to ensure utilization of technology is promoted at every opportunity.
    • Must be able to inspire trust and motivate virtual teams using strong communication, developmental and interpersonal skills and an ability to adapt to different virtual platforms.
    • Must successfully guide virtual teams, communicate clear goals, and facilitate problem solving.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency), Zoom or other Virtual Meeting platforms, and Google Platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to earn and maintain mandatory CPR & First aid certification
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements to drive a BGCM vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation
  • The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance
  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Majority of work time is split between North, South and Carter Lake Clubs with on call responsibilities to the other locations as needed (On-Call 24/7 as needed for emergencies)
  • Typical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions including staff, clients, parents, children, volunteers, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location is required
