LifePath, Inc. is Hiring a Behavior Specialist Near Sellersville, PA

For 50 years, LifePath has been providing a variety of community and residential services to individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout 7 counties in Pennsylvania. LifePath's programs and services are guided by the principal of everyday lives, an environment of respect and dignity and opportunities to make decisions and choices about one's own life.

The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and providing resources and training to staff in topics related to behavioral supports. Also, responsible for a caseload of individuals who display challenging behaviors by providing behavior intervention strategies and staff training in implementation of those strategies.

JOB REQUIREMENT FOR BEHAIVOR SPECALIST:

-Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavioral Analysis or Gerontoplogy; or A Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology or other related fields. Certification in Staff Effectiveness, Safety Techniques, and Personal Emergency Intervention Training

-Ability to read and comprehend English language to understand work assignments, LifePath policies and procedures, and perform job safely.

Behavior Intervention:

a. Provide the appropriate level and frequency of behavior intervention services for an assigned caseload of individuals.

b. Participate as a member of the program planning team. Participation includes attending team and program staff meetings and generating reports as requested by the team.

c. Develop, implement, and train staff in behavior intervention plans. Monitor all ongoing behavioral programs of assigned caseload on a periodical basis.

d. Present to Human Rights Committee all restrictive procedures and program review of current restrictive procedures.

e. Organize and implement all special projects as assigned, such as but not limited too, house self government plans, personal/social skill groups, and similar interventions.

f. Assist individuals and their staff with creative behavior supports. Establish behavior monitoring system.

g. Participate in and complete all training required by Office of Developmental Programs and all regulations for the position.

h. Respond to crisis issues in all settings; provide assistance and training to individuals and staff.

i. Provide guidance and make recommendations regarding behavior needs at day programs and Life Sharing homes as requested.

j. Provide guidance and assist with development of SEE Plans as requested

k. Attend ISP and staff meetings as needed

l. Interact with families as needed.

m. Observe and make recommendations for new admissions during transition to services with LifePath.

n. Complete visits in the homes during various shifts, including evenings and weekends to observe and design interventions in natural time, real life situations.

o. Collect and analyze behavioral data, provide training regarding recommended behavioral interventions and assess need for existing interventions.

p. Complete assessments on individuals and provide assessments to staff in the homes and day programs to complete.

q. Work with individuals and supervisors on adaptive equipment/assistive technology, especially communication equipment and various tactile items.

r. Research creative strategies for solutions to assist individuals that are not traditional behavioral intervention tools.

s. Be familiar with applicable regulations and Bulletins related to restrictive procedures and behavioral intervention strategies.

t. Be familiar with electronic record documentation systems used within LifePath.

Training Services

a. Provide scheduled trainings in specific areas where certified and qualified to do so to LifePath staff or groups sponsored by LifePath., such as Staff Effectiveness, Safety Techniques and Personal Emergency Intervention Training.

b. Participate in research that is developed by the agency, including research related to development of new training regarding communication and behavioral intervention strategies.

c. Disseminate relevant professional literature and findings.
