• Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time
• Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions
• Typically, performs fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers
• Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times
• Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food for consumption in eating establishments
• Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use
• Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
• May prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
• May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all state and federal regulatory rules and procedures
• Monthly, attends all in-service education and staff meetings as required
• Consistently changes gloves from task to task properly washing hands in between glove changes
• Prepares trays with proper dishes, glasses, cups, condiments and eating utensils for meals
• Transports trays for meal service, ensuring proper temperatures
• Checks patient trays against ticket for accuracy (verifying two patient identifiers match)
• Follows menus for regular, texture modified, and therapeutic diets
• Completes cleaning and stocking of patient pantries, and records temperatures per hospital policy
• Sets up stations with breads, condiments, and utensils
• Consistently practices key sanitation procedures and policies, especially hand washing, proper food storage, and maintaining appropriate temperature of foods
• Ability to multi-task

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 2 years Food preparation experience in a hospital kitchen preferred
• Minimum of 6 months Experience in commercial kitchen. preferred
• SS - Serv-Safe Certified Within 90 Days required
